Dreamcatchr is a new modern opera based around technology addiction. Two sisters fight as one becomes immersed in coding and obsessed with technology, while the other fights for them to say in reality. As part of this project, we were asked to design a poster and identity for the opera. We could base this from moments within the opera and/or themes. A quote I took from the opera was "You were native to the dark."
I focused on the chorus that drew the main character into the opera, once described as "The Dark Chorus." I tried to create a dance between two dark figure intertwined between the type and colours to give a sense of entrapment but almost unaware – in a dream state. The colour green and the pixelated background is used to signify the dreams and technology the main character goes into. The figures can also be interpreted as the main characters battle with self.
